Individual

Individual counseling is available to anyone who may be hurting, confused, frustrated, or feeling overwhelmed by personal problems. Counselors help with various issues including depression, grief, loss, addictions, trauma, stress, anxiety, eating disorders, relational issues, etc.

Family

Family counseling brings various members of the family together with a counselor, in a confidential session. Each member is helped to understand the problem and how he or she can best contribute to the solution. Counseling the whole family, or smaller units within the family, can help bring healing to difficult family situations. Youth and teen counsel is available.

Marital

Marriage counseling assists couples with responsibly resolving issues and problems, presented as threatening to end their marriage. Counsel serves: 1) to explore and identify all areas of conflict, contributing to the presentation problem(s), 2) to assist in reconciling and strengthening the marriage, and, 3) work to develop harmony, grace, and peace in the home.

Parenting

Various parenting programs and counseling are available at SNLM towards addressing the challenges parents are facing today in raising their children (of all ages). Services are offered on an individual basis or a group format, as we are able to schedule.

Pregnancy Options & Helps

Whether a pregnancy is planned or unexpected, we offer free and confidential pregnancy tests, counsel helps, option information, and a variety of other practical helps. Our pre/post natal lessons (YPN-Young & Pregnant Niagara) aid 1st time moms (and dads) in preparing for birth, for planning baby’s arrival - with a variety of ongoing helps during pregnancy and following delivery; for the duration in which we are needed.

Life-Skill Lessons & Incentives

A variety of lessons we offer for gaining a stronger sense in capabilities and life skills, for you and your family to live healthy responsible lives. Topics cover - 1) Parenting/Co-parenting; 2) Healthy Relationships /Communication; 3) Practical Fatherhood; and 4) Money Management /Budgeting; 5) Home Health/Hygiene - as a sampling of the many topics available, with incentives to earn-as-you-learn.

Addictions

Does an addiction control your life? An addict’s thinking is: 1) key to the heart issues that trigger addictive choices, 2) key to harming self and others, and 3) key to breaking the cycle for overcoming the intense struggle; to get free. Life is notably a series of choices, and while the heart of addiction isn’t an easy one to conquer, every day there are people breaking free from dependencies; by the grace of God.

Anger Issues / Conflict Resolution

Our curriculum offers basic biblical principles that assist participants to: 1) identify root causes of anger, 2) identify the heart issues that influence conflict, 3) learn to act, versus react, 4) break the control that anger holds, interfering with relationships, 5) learn peace making skills, and 6) develop practical life application, for responsibly controlling anger.

Grief Care / Group Support

Grief care is offered on a one-on-one basis or in a Griefshare group format. The loss and finality of death is hard for most people to cycle through. Our staff and leaders understand the need for help and support to navigate the changes that grief brings. DVDs, by experts sharing their insights into grief, and a workbook will assist in processing / adjusting to your loss; as we come alongside. Biblical Counsel

Counsel and specific programs are available to anyone seeking a solid biblical framework to connect biblical principles to their problems and practical living, and solutions for immediate, short, and long-term problems. We offer assistance in identifying problems, options, specific responses, and determining solution oriented strategies, for real and lasting change, to common everyday issues.

Budgeting 101

Money matters too often negatively affect family relationships. Our goal is to aid you in identifying heart issues and problem areas that interfere with your responsibly planning, budgeting, and managing your spending – to live within your means. Basic financial principles and biblical practical application offer practices that can assist you to succeed, your entire lifetime.

Sexual Health/Relationships

Empowered: South Niagara Life Ministries’ Abstinence Curriculum is excellent for classroom presentations and area public school assemblies. Presentations walk students through the importance of abstinence to their emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual health; and empowers students with right choices for their future; for healthy, lasting relationships.
